John Morgan Lusk's Obituary
John Morgan Lusk, 98, of Huntington, WV, resident of Woodlands Retirement Community, passed away peacefully at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House on September 20, 2023. John was born July 6, 1925 in Williamson, WV to the late Robert Arlen and Verda Ooten Lusk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Lusk and sister, Joan Wiles. John was a graduate of Williamson High School and attended Marshall College where he graduated with a Masters in Biological Science. Being one of the last remaining few of The Greatest Generation, John was a military veteran of the 30th Infantry Division (Old Hickory) during World War II with the United States Army. During intense combat at The Battle of the Bulge in January 1945, he sustained substantial injuries granting him the distinguished Purple Heart Medal for bravery, heroism and sacrifice. John had a long and distinguished career with Merck Pharmaceuticals in sales. He retired as a District Manager where he made many lifelong friends. John attended Beverly Hills United Methodist Church. He always enjoyed playing the game of golf with friends and taking many beach vacations with his family. John is survived by his wife of 76 years of faithful marriage, M. Elizabeth Lusk; his children, Deborah Kopp (Robert), Donna Whitley (Michael) and John M. Lusk Jr. (Shannon); grandchildren, Elizabeth Ray (Josh), Rebecca Bell (Shay), Kathleen Whitley, Kaitlin Whitley, Erin Andrews (Ryan), Andrew Lusk, Ali Lusk and many loving great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. John never met a stranger. He loved a good, robust conversation and had many interesting stories to share. He was always willing to help and treated everyone with respect and dignity. He leaves a wonderful legacy of love and devotion to his wife, loving children and extended family. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Woodlands for their care and compassion; and the many friendships made during his residency. Memorial contributions can be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House or Beverly Hills United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be limited to family members and a public Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, OH is assisting the family.
