John was my daughter's (Olivia) godfather. What a caring and easy going person he was. I always enjoyed seeing him and Kathy at Mass with Erin. I also had the privilege of working with him at Shawnee.
My condolences to John's family. I had the pleasure of working with him for a couple of years at San Pedro's parish in La Paz Bolivia. He was the kind of person who not only carried his own weight, but lightened the load of those who worked with him--always upbeat, always willing to contribute his energy and talents for the team. Knowing him was was a huge blessing for me. His contributions were many, but one that I especially remember was when, by just doing his job, he got the goods on an employee was was stealing from the parish collection. Dan Hemesath

He was a warm, down-to-earth mentor when I arrived in Achacachi in the Bolivian Alti Plano. he has a caring brotherly and respectful relationship with the people and a wise and a joyful companion to our pastoral team. So sorry to hear of John's passing. A great man! I worked with him on a Maryknoll Team in the Altiplano of Bolivia. It was my first assignment as a new missioner and John was full of kindness, fun and gentleness as he helped me settle into a new mission and culture. He was a gentle giant. Dear Kathy and all the family, Prayerful condolences to you and all the family on the sad news of big John J. Logan Moran's death. John was a good friend when we were together at Maryknoll Seminary, then when he was in Bolivia while I was in Peru (from '67 to '72), and here in Bangladesh when I visited the newly-arrived group of Maryknollers in 1976 and 1977. Will offer the Mass I say at 6 a.m. 18 November at the Poor Clares' St. Michael's Adoration Monastery, Mymensingh (Bangladesh) for the repose of John's holy soul and for the consolation of you his family! My prayers and thoughts are with John's family. John and I were co-workers at Shawnee Mental Health Center in Coal Grove, Ohio. I thought the world of him. He was very nice to everyone.

Deep sympathy and prayers on the death of Big John Moran. We were classmates in the Maryknoll Missionary Society. I visited him in Bolivia. We shared a passion for sports -- John the New York teams and me the Baltimore teams. RIP.
