John Scott Newsom's Obituary
John Scott Newsom, 75, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born to the late Charles and Vivian Newsom on December 30, 1944. He was preceded in death by his brother Clinton Newsom; sister Barsha Wade; and nieces Angel Hopkins and Carla Tubbs. He was employed and retired from Huntington Corrugated Bay, which is now closed and Guyan Golf Country Club. He leaves to mourn him his loving wife Taletia Newsom; daughters Ciaria Newsome and Audrana Hairston; granddaughter ZaMaya “Tinkerbut”; grandson Kirt Trotter; great granddaughter Kaia Trotter; brothers Charles Newsom and Gordon Newsom; very special niece Ashley Gillenwater-Shanklin(Chris); two great nieces Kinley Hairston and Haisley Shanklin; sisters LaCora Ford and Vivian Newsom all of Huntington, WV. Also, surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members, special friends Harry Layne, Howard Garrett, and WM (BJ) Johnson. He was known as Hook, Newt, or Newtie. He was a special and caring person. Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, August 31, 2020 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH with Rev. Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held one prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com.
