Jonathan David Hysell's Obituary
Johnathan David Hysell, 67, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12th, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harry and Annabelle Hysell and his siblings, Mark Hysell, Tom Hysell, Janet Taulbee, and Elizabeth Davis. John resided in Huntington with his sister, Brenda Corns; his nieces, Brenda and Bridget Corns, and his favorite dog, Rocco Corns. John leaves behind a large family, including nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his sisters, Brenda Corns of Huntington and Debbie McCloud of Ironton and his brothers, George Hysell of South Point and Bud Hysell of Chesapeake.
To know John was to love him. His smile lit up every room he entered — including his favorite fast-food spot, Wendy’s. You may not have known John when he first met you, but by the end of that first conversation, you had a friend for life.
John strived to reflect Jesus in everything he did. He often handed out Bible tracts and made sure everyone he met heard the good news of Jesus Christ. One thing about John — if you needed help and he could do it, he was there. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand. Whether it was helping friends with lunch or collecting cans to recycle as part of his “job,” John did it all with joy and a smile.
If we, as children of God, could humble ourselves like John, then surely, we would inherit the kingdom of God. He was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church of God and Tucker Memorial Baptist.
This isn’t goodbye — this is “see you later,” Johnny. Enjoy that cold ice pop in the sky with your mom and dad.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in John’s honor on Friday, May 16th from 6–8 PM at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com
