Joseph Nathaniel Allen's Obituary
Joseph Nathaniel Allen, 79, of South Point Ohio, departed this life at 4:30 PM Friday, September 18, 2020 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born March 29, 1941 in Amigo, West Virginia, to Robert Bruce and Virginia Lee Allen. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Y. Allen. Also surviving are his children Joseph Allen of Covington, GA, Ortensia Hudson, Chereda Hudson, Anika Hudson and Marcus Allen of Chicago, Illinois. Stepchildren Kenneth Griffin, Huntington, WV, Gregory Griffin, Greensboro, NC, Renee (James) Crosby, Covington, GA, Regina Brown, Greensboro, NC, Rita Brown, and Krista Brown of Huntington, WV. One sister Martha Woodson, Maywood Illinois and a brother Robert Allen, Maywood Illinois. He has a host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren as well as several Nieces and Nephews. Joseph joined the United States Army in 1960 and during his time as a Soldier he was the starting Fullback for the All Army Football team. He was Honorably discharged in 1963 and became a resident of Chicago, Illinois where he lived for several years. During his tenure there he worked for Zenith International Harvester as a Machine Operator, he later moved to South Point, Ohio where he resided until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Bruce and Virginia Lee Allen. Joseph was a stalwart individual with the heart of a Lion. He was sharp of wit as well as an independent thinker. He rarely complained and disciplined himself to undergo hardness as a good Soldier. He was an also an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with others and will be sorely missed by all who knew and love him. He fought the good fight of faith without murmuring or complaint until he decided to fight no more, and with that being said he took his flight! The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM preceding visitation at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Greater Love Temple of PFCC International, 7394 County Road 1 South Point, Ohio 45680.
