Joyce Elizabeth Mullins' Obituary
Joyce Elizabeth McCormick Mullins, 81, of Cincinnati, formerly of Crown City, passed away January 26, 2023 at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash after a short illness. In the days leading to her passing, Joyce was surrounded by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Frances McCormick, her sister, Virginia McCormick, and two husbands, Brad Stangeland and Gary Mullins. She is survived by five children; Robert (Kathy) Bowsher of Hilliard, OH, Michael (Mary) Bowsher of Huntington, WV, Donald (Diane) Bowsher of Reynoldsburg, OH, Stephen (Jamie) Bowsher of Canal Winchester, OH, Andrea (Karl) Kirchner of Spartanburg, SC, one brother Charles (Jan) McCormick of Colorado Springs, CO, one sister, Karen (Bruce) Stone of New Marshfield, OH, two nieces, Kelly (Casey) Kohen and Angela (Mike) Browning, and two nephews, Brian (Jess) McCormick and Jeff (Crystal) Fannin. She leaves six grandchildren: Abigail Bowsher, Kristin Kirchner, Ryan Wills, Logan Wills, Jared Contraguerro, and John Mark Curtis II, and one great granddaughter, Josey Curtis. She also leaves behind several dear friends, Emmitt Blankenship, Amanda Bennett and Howard Storm. Joyce was raised in Proctorville, OH, and graduated valedictorian from Fairland High School. She had many vocations in her life, ranging from jewelry making and aromatherapy to working as an electrician. She was passionate about many things, but especially enjoyed collecting minerals, rocks and crystals. She also loved her sweet cats, Ranger and Rufus. Many animals were rescued by Joyce over the years. Joyce did not make acquaintances, she made instantaneous lifelong friends. Her life's journey has brought her many dear friends in different walks of life. She treasured each and every one. The family would like to thank all of her friends who called and visited while she was hospitalized and in hospice care, especially the ICU staff at Good Samaritan Hospital and Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash facility. Your kindness and sincere care for her was felt by Joyce as well as by her family. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 1-3 pm at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, OH. A private family service will take place afterwards. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any local animal shelter or organization, as this was a dear and precious cause to Joyce.
