JUANITA FERN LAYNE, 73 of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at home. She is survived by her husband Chester Layne Sr; daughters Shelly Hopkins of Chesapeake, Ohio, Beth Callicoat of Huntington, West Virginia, Melissa (James) Nester of Mentor, Ohio, grandchildren, Tevin Mitchell, Manny Washington, Chase Nester, Micah Callicoat, and Madison Nester, great-grandchildren, Ava Mitchell, Rowan Mitchell, Taiven Mitchell, Amari Washington, Malayah Washington, La'Kia Washington, Tamiaha Miller, Messiah Miller, and Aaliyah Callicoat, a brother Gordon (Wanda) Simpson of Proctorville, Ohio, and step-sons Chester Layne Jr. and Marvin Layne both of Texas. Juanita was born April 13, 1950, in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Naomi and Gordon Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Geneva Cremeans and Peggy Hughes, and a granddaughter, Brooke Callicoat. She was loved so much and will be greatly missed by family and friends. As she requested a private family service will be held. Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, Ohio.
