Julia Clare Burgett's Obituary
Julia Clare Burgett (Durkin) passed away on April 7th, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington WV. She was born on July 29,1947, the daughter of John and Ruth Koepfer Durkin. Julia graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in 1965.She also graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, RN, Marshall University, BSN, Bellarmine University, master’s in nursing. She was a long-time employee at St. Mary’s Medical Center and faculty member at the Center for Education. Julia was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Chesapeake, OH. Over the years she served in various parish ministries, including music, catechetical, and Eucharistic ministries. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Durkin, her sisters Sue Durkin Frye, Margaret Durkin Baer, and Anne Durkin Mauro. She is survived by her loving husband William Burgett, sons, John Burgett, Joseph Burgett, daughter, Kerri Elam (Dave Marony) and grandchildren, Matthew Burgett, Conner Elam, Benjamin Elam, Zachary Elam, and Jordan Elam. Her sister, Sister Kathleen Durkin, brothers, John (Norma) Durkin, Larry (Patti) Durkin, Chris Koepfer, her longtime friend Brenda Brammer, sister-in-law, Deborah Burgett, brothers-in-law, Tom Baer, Jean Mauro and nieces and nephews. She dedicated her life in the service of others; she loved her profession as a nurse, and she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Mimi). A Celebration of life will be held on Monday April 13, 2026, with Mass at 11 AM and visitation will be one hour prior from 10:00-11:00 AM, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Chesapeake, Ohio.
