Kathryn Ann Kilgore's Obituary
Kathryn Ann Kilgore (née Bostic), 91, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loyal friend, and dedicated pediatric nurse, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Born on December 27, 1933, in Huntington, West Virginia, Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Mabel “Betty” Bostic. She spent much of her childhood on the Bostic family farm near Patriot, Ohio, where she developed a deep love for animals and first attended Cadmus School. Life on the farm left a lasting impression on her, shaping the kind, compassionate woman she would become.
Kathy later returned to Huntington and attended West Junior High, where she formed lifelong friendships with twin sisters Ailene Pauley Morris and Charlene Pauley Dial. After graduating from Huntington High School, she followed her calling to care for others and enrolled in St. Mary’s School of Nursing.
After nursing school, Kathy began a long and fulfilling career at Cabell Huntington Hospital, where she worked for 42 years. As Head Nurse of Pediatrics for most of her tenure, she provided comfort and care to generations of children and their families. Known for her gentle nature, calm presence, and tireless dedication, Kathy earned the admiration of her colleagues and the enduring gratitude of countless families.
Kathy married the love of her life, Paul Kilgore, and together they built a warm and loving home. She was a devoted mother to Jeff and Craig Kilgore and found immense joy in being a grandmother to Conner, Katy, and Ella Kilgore. Her family was the heart of her world, and her warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength will continue to live on through them.
Outside of her work, Kathy was known for her deep affection for animals, a passion that remained with her throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and volunteering through her church. She will be remembered for her kindness, her quick wit, and her steadfast support of those she loved.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Jeff (Beth) Kilgore and Craig (Yordanka) Kilgore, and her beloved grandchildren, Conner, Katy, and Ella Kilgore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Betty Bostic, and her husband, Paul Kilgore.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the animal shelter of your choice or to your local hospice, causes close to Kathy’s heart.
