Kathy Smith Sigmon's Obituary
On October 18, 2023, our sweet angel Kathy Smith Sigmon, 69, received her wings in Glory. Born on December 22, 1953 in Huntington, WV, the youngest child of Ben and Frances Moore Smith. Kathy was a lifetime resident of Proctorville, OH. As a child, she resided on Susan St. and as an adult, made her home alongside her beloved husband, Dermond Sigmon and her precious dog, Ziggy, in Morgan Hollow. Now, she will make her home in Heaven with her beloved dog of 14 years, Brody. Greeting her at the gates of Heaven were her parents, Ben and Frances Moore Smith; oldest sibling, Larry F. Smith; infant brother, Bobby, and brother-in-law, Joe Burgess. Kathy leaves behind many who love her and will miss her dearly. Husband, Dermond Sigmon of Proctorville, OH; stepson, David (Mildred) Sigmon of Virginia; sisters, Betty Burgess (the late Joe Burgess) of Miller, OH, and Marion (Ed) Prince of Cleveland, OH; 4 nieces, 4 nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, and her precious dog, Ziggy. Kathy was an avid dog lover. Her biggest passion was for rescue dogs. We are certain that when we see her again in Heaven we will find her surrounded by dogs (who were deprived of love) vying for her attention and ability to make each one feel special. She was a graduate of Huntington Jr. College of business earning her business degree and her CNA degree. She continued her education at Marshall University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Regents Bachelors of Arts in May 2008. Kathy was employed at Mayo Construction as Office and Business Manager. Despite her higher education, Kathy discovered she loved working at Macy's where she could utilize her talents for business and fashion. After 3 years of pain and suffering, she passed peacefully at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV, surrounded by caring nurses and loving family. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Hospice House and Cabell Huntington Hospital for their kindness and care. We would also like to thank the pastoral support that was provided and for the prayers of many. Kathy is now pain free and in the hands of our Lord and Savior. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Kathy's favorite charity, Little Victories Animal Rescue in Milton, WV. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Dan Holstein, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com
