Kendra Charmaine McGill's Obituary
Kendra Charmaine McGill, 54 of Kenova, WV, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, Mimi, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in the embrace of her loving family after a short, courageous battle against cancer. She was born on May 31, 1971, in Parkersburg, WV, to Robert Lee Laird and Linda Lou Reed. Kendra's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the profound impact of kindness. She was predeceased by her father, Robert, whose memory she cherished deeply. She is survived by her daughters, Chasta Harkness (Matthew) of Harrisville, WV, and Jessica Dyer (Naaman) of Chesapeake, OH; her cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Hayley, Lincoln, and Wrenlee, who were the lights of her life; her mother Linda Lou Reed, and brother Cary L. Laird. Her beloved dog, Lady, was a constant companion and loyal friend. Kendra was a proud alumna of Ritchie County High School's class of 1989 and pursued her passion for healing and care by earning an associate’s degree in nursing from West Virginia University at Parkersburg in 1997. For many years, she worked as an independent oil and gas abstractor, where her diligence and integrity were deeply valued. Kendra had a profound love for the great outdoors. Whether she was fishing, kayaking, gathering unique stones, foraging, or camping, she found peace and joy in nature's embrace. Her creativity flourished through knitting, woodwork, and assembling puzzles, while her passion for collecting unique items spoke to her appreciation for life's little treasures. But above all, it was her time spent with her grandchildren that brought her the greatest joy and fulfillment. Those who knew Kendra will remember her for her quick wit, warm smile, and the remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her boundless generosity and deep compassion left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. An intimate graveside service for close friends and family was held to honor Kendra's life at the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery on June 13th, 2026; officiated by Darrell Farley. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Darrell and the members of Spruce Grove Community Church for hosting a fellowship luncheon following the funeral service, where stories and memories of Kendra were shared in a celebration of her remarkable life. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at https://www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
