Kenneth Cole Bland, Jr's Obituary
Kenneth Cole Bland Jr., 88, of Proctorville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord October 5, 2019 while at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born May 9, 1931 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Kenneth Cole Bland Sr. and Rubie Gifford Bland. He was known as Kenny to most and affectionately to family as Brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Greg Bland. Graduate of the 1950 class from Huntington East High School and attended Marshall College. Kenny served 4 years in the United States Air Force as a Finance Specialist during the Korean Conflict. He retired from INCO after 30 years of service as a testing coordinator in technology and was a member of the Quarter Century Club, as well as the INCO Retirees Club. Kenney was the owner of Blands Lock and Key Services and retired from locksmithing after 29 years. He was also a member of the Walnut Hill Action Team where he was awarded "Model Citizen" award. Kenny is a member of First Baptist Church of Proctorville, Ohio. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was survived by his wife of 63 years. Wilma Jean McCallister Bland; sons, Kenneth B. Bland (Cheryl) of Indiana and Ronald S. Bland of Florida; seven grandchildren Jaclyn, Christina (Jason), Caleb (Tiffany), Cody (Haley), Alexis, Annalise and Austin; eight great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Teresa Bland; sisters Mary Farrier of Indiana and Elizabeth "Pete" Hagley of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Kenny never met a stranger. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Jeff Black. Entombment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
