Kenneth Dwayne Griffin's Obituary
KENNETH DWAYNE GRIFFIN: affectionately known as "Dolamite" or Ken, age 60 of Huntington, WV, departed this life, Monday, October 2, 2023. Born on February 24, 1963, in Kistler WV (Logan County); to Catherine Griffin Allen and to the late Gordon Jones. Ken was a loving and kind person who always enjoyed helping others. He had exceptional cooking skills. He received his education through the Cabell County Public School System. He previously worked for the Positive People Association, Oliver's Restaurant and several other Eatery Establishments as a cook. He received his Christian Education under the tutelage of the late Pastor Katherine Jackson of the AOH Church, The Glorious Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Martha "MA" Johnson, and Full Gospel Assembly with Bishop Samuel Moore in Huntington, WV. He accepted Jesus Christ & was baptized in Jesus' name, and filled with the Holy Ghost in his 20's at the Glorious Church 1665 Tenth Ave. He knew the Bible backwards and forwards. He was a Preacher at heart. He loved to joke and enjoyed making people's day with his infectious joy and personality.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dora Young and a son Baby Griffin that passed away as a newborn. His Fathers: Gordon Jones & Joseph Allen. Grandmother: Mary O'Dell Hatcher Binder. Aunts: Andrea, Lanita, Josephine, Levonia, and Janice. Uncle: James Griffin. Nephew, Malik Price. A special friend: Lou Ann Wilder.
In addition to his Mother Elder Catherine Allen. He is survived by his daughter Eva Foster. Sisters: Renee Brown-Crosby (James), Regina Brown, Rita Brown, & Krista Brown. Brothers: Anthony Allen & Greg Griffin. Grandchildren: Maniya & Dyquez Foster, and Derrick Jenkins. Aunts: Leola Johnson & Julia Shy. Uncles: Thomas Shaw & Nathaniel Hatcher. Special Friends: Marcel Layne, Jimmy Stokes, Aaron Jackson, & Tress Washington. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1 PM with Elder Anthony Allen & Pastor Carolyn Germaine officiating, at Full Gospel Assembly Church 2101 Tenth Ave Huntington, WV. Hall Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Burlington 37 Cemetery. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
