Kenneth Lawrence Johnson's Obituary
Kenneth L. Johnson 70 went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was born December 24, 1952 and resided in Burlington, OH. He was a graduate of Huntington High School and received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Marshall University and was a United States Navy Veteran. He recently retired from KVC Behavioral Care. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Frances and Robert Johnson; a brother, Lance Johnson; 3 special aunts, Ellen Johnson, Johnnie Mae Jones and Nancy Johnson; two uncles, William and Archie Johnson; his in laws, Herman and Ruby Howard. He is survived by his mother, Edna Ruth Zerquera; his loving wife of 27 years, Veronica Johnson; 3 sons, Douglas Smith, Quentin (Megan) Smith, and Marquise Yancey; 2 grandchildren, Zakia and Amiyah Smith whom he deeply adored; three very special aunts, Roberta Jones of LaHabra, California and Zelma Morton of Huntington, WV and Dr. Deloris Johnson of Huntington,WV; a nephew, Andreaus Moody of Huntington, WV and a host of cousin and friends. He also had two very special friends John Kinder and David Barnes and many others too numerous to mention.
Kenny served as an Elder at New Life Church for many years where his passion was witnessing for the lord and winning souls for Christ. He enjoyed going to the YMCA and was a sports enthusiast. Kenny was a gentle giant that showed kindness to every person he came in contact with and never met a stranger.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 10th 2023 at New Life Church, 1101 Cedar Crest Drive, Huntington, WV with Pastor Josh Huffman and Dr. Darrell Huffman officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Zakai Smith through Paypal@LoveforZakai. All proceeds will go towards his autism services. Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
