Kirk Sheridan Gillenwater's Obituary
Kirk "K.G." Sheridan Gillenwater, 54, of Huntington, WV, went to be with the Lord at his home on Saturday, July 22, 2023. He was born on August 19, 1968 to Karen Sue Gillenwater (Benjamin) Murphy and Donald (Hilda) Bailey. Kirk graduated from Huntington East High School in 1986. He attended Marshall University and played football until enlisting into the United States Air Force. He served for 16 years as a Logistics NCO. After an Honorable Discharge, he returned home and obtained his Masters Degree at Marshall University. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was an active member of the community, serving on City Council and organizing DI Greyhound tournaments. Most importantly, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Kirk leaves many cherished memories to the love of his life, Tami Gillenwater; his children, Ashley Gillenwater, Julia Ferguson and Bailey Gillenwater; sisters, Rebecca Gillenwater, Christie Howard and Donna Bailey; brother, Joshua Howard; granddaughters, Kinley, Haisley and Seiko; several nieces and nephews; close cousins, The Ziegler family and a host of close friends and family. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, July 31, 2023 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 828 15th St. Huntington, WV. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Huntington, WV.
