Larry Edwin Burcham's Obituary
After a brave and strenuous battle with an aggressive cancer, Larry Edwin Burcham, 62, of Proctorville, Ohio peacefully entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018 all the while surrounded entirely by the love of his family, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Larry was born on June 19, 1956 in Huntington, WV to Gene and Donna Burcham and raised in Scottown, Ohio. Larry went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Debbie Townsend on May 2, 1974. Together for 43 years, Larry and Debbie raised their two dear children BJ and Kelly. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Larry faithfully and devotedly cared for his family and friends. As a man of strong faith he helped to shape them spiritually by his tireless Christian examples. Larry was a hardworking, driven man with a work ethic like no other. He spent his entire adult life dedicated to his work as a machinist at Sulzer pumps. In his free time he pursued his passion that was handed to him by his grandfather, tending to his cattle and producing hay. Larry faithfully followed his calling to preach and greatly contributed to the leadership of the Church of Christ in Chesapeake, Ohio. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried him through months of grueling treatments. Yet even throughout his own struggle with cancer he continued to selflessly reach out and touch the lives of those around him through his humble actions and gentle words. Larry was preceded in death by his loving mother, Donna, his father Gene Burcham; his kid brother Timmy Burcham; as well as his cherished grandparents, Clovis and Jesse Smith. He leaves behind his lovingly devoted wife and best friend, Debbie Burcham; his admirable son BJ Burcham (Shawn McDaniel); his compassionate daughter Kelly Napier (George); his beloved grandchildren Erica, Riley, Caden and Hadley; his two extremely close sisters Diana (Larry) Kipp and Sandy (Spud) Bays; half brother Jared (Shelia) Burcham; half sister Gloria Burcham; and also so very many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor John Holland and Pastor Brian Pinkerman officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the funeral home.
