Laura Geneva Chaffin's Obituary
Laura Geneva Chaffin, 92, of Santee, formerly of Proctorville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg, S.C.
Mrs. Chaffin was born on June 6, 1928 in Proctorville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Hamlin and the late Carrie Kerr Hamlin. Mrs. Chaffin was a member of Sybene Independent Missionary Church in South Point, Ohio. She was a woman of faith that loved the Lord. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jesse Nance; her daughter, Brenda Midkiff, a sister and ten brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, James L. Chaffin; daughter, Robin Shultis (Peter); son, Richard Nance; daughters, Sharon Chaffin, Marlene Gruetter (Carl); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Russell Midkiff; special nieces, Jessica Kimble (Eli), Amber Midkiff and an additional number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sybene Independent Missionary Church 9231 County Road 1, South Point, Ohio 45680. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
