LaVerne R Lee's Obituary
LAVERNE R. LEE, 60, of Proctorville, OH, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 21, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be Noon Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Young Chapel A.M.E. Church, 840 18th Street, Huntington, WV, with Rev. ReLoy F. Gainey, Sr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. LaVerne was born April 25, 1952, a daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth Singleton. She was a former traffic controller for WDDG "The Dawg" radio station, a member of Young Chapel A.M.E. Church where she sang in the choir, a member of the United Praise Team, a member of Unity in the Community Choir of Huntington, and a member of the Mary F. Handy Missionary Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Cecilia and Carris Smoot; and one brother, Daniel Singleton, Jr. LaVerne is survived by her husband, Robert A. Lee, Jr.; three children, Tara Renay Alin, Christopher Alan Lee, and Terrence Anthony Lee; two grandchildren, Tamarkus Anthony Lee and Tayanna Love Alin; three siblings, Deborah Smoot, Keith Gregory, and Darell Gregory; and her best friend since age 6, Teresa Figgins. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH, is in charge of arrangements.
