Lawrence Emanuel Wilkes' Obituary
Lawrence "Larry" Emanuel Wilkes, 80, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2023. He was born October 4, 1943. He was the son of the late Lawrence E. Wilkes and Kathryn M. Wilkes.Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Proctorville, OH. He made friends easily and it seemed no matter where he went someone would know him. He truly enjoyed people. He had friends of all ages. I always thought he was so smart because he always remembered stories so well. After a time, I realized the stories changed each time.He was a very accomplished brick mason and took great pride in his work. After two back surgeries he was no longer able to do this. He was a proud union member of the Brick Layers Local #5.Larry then went to food sales and made many new friends there. He always had a joke to tell. He also enjoyed helping and coaching in Little League Sports. He was President of Tri-State Football League. He sat on the Fairland School Board hoping to make a difference.Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Evelyn Taylor Wilkes and their children; daughter, Katrina (Steve) Hunt, three sons; Jeffrey (Susan) Wilkes, Michael (Amy) Wilkes, and Timothy (Sylvia) Wilkes. Also, their fifteen grandchildren; Jon Thomas, Nathan, Richard, Michael, Christopher, Zac, Alicia, Christian, Chase, Kaylee, Josh, Crystal, Beth, Amber and Colt. In addition, fifteen great grandchildren; and a sister Vivian Riddle.He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laurel Wilkes.There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 3:00PM with a visitation from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH. with Pastor Jeff Black officiating. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com. Flowers are welcomed, but not necessary.
