Leon Darriel Sowards' Obituary
Leon D. Sowards, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023 in Elkins, WV.Leon was born on September 17th, 1933 to Lonnie and Elizabeth Sowards. After graduating from High School, he served in the United States Army proudly.Leon is preceded in death by his mother and father, and wife Emogene Sowards. Leon and Emogene made a home in both the Huntington, WV area and the Lancaster, Ohio area, bringing the people around him together, and truly making everyone feel like family.Leon was a proud father, loving grandfather, and caring great grandfather. Leon had a love for bluegrass music and was known in the bluegrass festival music circuit, but even more than bluegrass was his love for playing his guitar or mandolin. He shared his love for music with those around him, music was indeed one of his greatest passion.The memories he gave us through our lives will forever be remembered.
