My younger brother Lew C. passed away yesterday. He was only 63. I wish he was still here and in good health but know he has found peace. He was such a lovely person, and also very witty and the king of sarcasm. Generous with people he knew and didn't know, he would give someone the shirt off his back. I have struggled to contain what I know about him into words or paragraphs and realize it's almost impossible to convey a person's essence and life into just words. He was laughter, music, joy, and intelligence. Because of health issues in his later life, he struggled. But, he always hung on and overcame each obstacle, managing to deal with life a little bit better. As a child and as an adult, he absolutely loved Christmas and the lights and would always have his up earlier and later than anyone. I see him as a little boy with Easter eggs - eating them as he searched for more. He was freckled and blond, he was sunshine, he was innocence. He was a dad to Katie Mae. He loved her and was proud of her accomplishments. He loved Raylan, his young grandson, but didn't have time to know him enough. In the song, 'Vincent' by Don McLean, the line 'this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you' describes him. He was fragile, yet strong. He was stubborn, a hard worker, and a friend to many. He will be so greatly missed.
