Lillian Dickess' Obituary
Lillian Marie (Chapman) Dickess, 94, of Ironton, Ohio passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia on Thursday July 13, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1928, the daughter of the late William T. and Vesta (Weatherholt) Chapman. She was a 1946 graduate of Kitts Hill High School. She was employed by Dayton Malleable Iron where she retired in 1965 and the owner of Dickess Insurance Agency started by her father W.T. Chapman in 1918. She was a long time, active member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a founding member of the Rock Hill Gardeners. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Mack Dickess, brother Lemuel Chapman, and sisters Anita Shutt, Selma Roush, and Glenna Nelson Wilson. Left to cherish her memory are sons Michael (Linda) Dickess, Ronald (Kimberly) Dickess; grandchildren, Bryan (Kristie) Dickess, Lindsay (Jeffrey) Lawless, Nathaniel Dickess, Brittney Branham; great- grandchildren Delilah and Bryn Dickess, Hoyt and Hadley Lawless, and Ryan Branham; nieces Joyce Ann (Loren) Heiser, Gay Bakalis, Anita (Peter) Schneider, Lois (Jerry) Arsenault, Glenna Marie Riffe, nephew Bob (Ann) Nelson, several great nieces, nephews; and special friends Lynn Bunker, Goldie Pierson, Kathy Stumbo, and Cathy Triplett. The service and visitation will be held at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Ironton, Ohio, on Saturday July 22, 2023. Family and friends may visit at the church from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by the service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Ohio.
