Lorene Plybon's Obituary
Lorene Plybon, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 31, 2025, just shy of her 91st birthday. Born on November 13, 1934, she dedicated her life to her family and her faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Harry Plybon. She was also preceded in death by her parents Emmitt Spencer and Mary Jude; sister Juanita Gaylock; and her grandson Jeremy Shoemaker.
Lorene is survived by her children Wesley Plybon, Debbie Shoemaker, and William “Bill” Plybon. She also leaves behind her siblings Robert Spencer, Joe Spencer, Wayne Spencer, and Helen Young. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, Kris, Wesley, Leslie, Amanda, Billie Jo, Adam, Jeremy, and Josh; and 18 great grandchildren.
Lorene was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, Ohio, where she worked for 35 years at H&R Block as everyone’s “Tax Lady.” Lorene was a devoted member of Rockwood Baptist Church for 55 years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and she expressed her devotion by singing in the church choir for many years. She lived her life with The Lord in her heart and a smile on her face. Her home was the heart of the family, a place where generations gathered to share meals and create lasting memories. She was a gifted cook whose food was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. In her later years, Lorene enjoyed spending time at senior centers with her friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Charlie Spears officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
