Manfred Gunter Metzger's Obituary
Manfred Gunter Metzger, 91, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Born on December 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Franz Xavier and Magdalena Brandmüller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gerda Metzger and his daughter, Ingrid Metzger. Manfred was born in Munich, Germany, and moved to America in 1958 in contract with Volkswagen in Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked as a district service manager. There wasn’t anything Manfred couldn’t do. He constructed a boat in his own backyard and called her Rociante. He learned to navigate the sea so that he and his wife, Marille, could sail the Caribbean in for 7 years. His persistence was something to be admired, and he will be remembered for his vast knowledge and great sense of humor. Manfred is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marille Metzger; children, Guenter (Carolyn) Metzger and Ricarda (Rick) Dillon; sister, Inge Metzger; grandchildren, Brandon, Heidi, Kyle, Kira, Kassandra, and 10 great-grandchildren.
