Margaret Wilson's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret H. Wilson passed quietly in her sleep Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV with her daughters and granddaughters surrounding her. She was born October 19, 1931, in Selma, AL to the late Alberta Steen and Eugene Hatcher. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oliver Neal (O'Neal) Wilson, her son, Jesse J. (JJ) Wilson; her siblings Queen, Ethel, Georgia, Jesse, Charles, and James; her great-granddaughter Tessa Wilson; and her son-in-law Edmond Hornbuckle.Mrs. Wilson gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Logan, WV. She carried out various duties in the church, and for many years she prepared and delivered dinners on Saturdays for different auxiliaries of the church. After moving to Huntington, Mrs. Wilson provided a food and clothing pantry at her church to give to those in the community who were in need.Cooking was an art and a great joy for her; another of her "enjoyments" was wearing the many hats in her collection; she enjoyed bowling when she was younger; and gardening flowers and plants were her true loves!She worked at the Logan Regional Medical Center for approximately 33 years, until she retired in 1995.She was a member of the Save Our Sisters (SOS) organization that provided education awareness and support to women by linking them with care for breast health; and she was a member of the Walnut Hills Action Team, her community activist group. Mrs. Wilson was very compassionate about her contributions to others, that included sharing her love for the Lord.Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughters, Gertrude Joann Felters (Lonnie) of Clinton, MD; Jeannetta Hornbuckle, and Alberta Wilson both of Huntington, WV; her daughter-in-law, Janice Pinkins Wilson of Farrell, PA; her sister, Patricia Rose of Charleston, WV; 12 grandchildren: Jay, Marva (Graham), Scott (Paola), and Stephen (Lisa) Hornbuckle; Tenaya Johnson; Terry Wilson and Tracey Moore; Anton (Danielle) Chavers, Dawn Pinkins, Jesse/JJ Wilson II; and Leslie Neal and Toi Wilson; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of friends within the community and fellow church worshipers.
There will be a funeral service held on October 14, 2023 at Original Glorious Church of God In Christ 1516 10th Ave Huntington, WV 25701.Visitation: 10a.m-11a.m. Service: 11a.m.-12:30p.m. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens 42 Highland Memory Ln, Chapmanville, WV 25508.
