Marion Elizabeth (Koehler) Burge's Obituary
Marion Elizabeth (Koehler) Burge, 78, of South Point, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born on January 30, 1948, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. Koehler and Sadie A. (Flaugher) Koehler. She was also preceded in death by her son Aaron Matthew.
Marion’s life was defined by her devotion to the Lord, her unconditional love for her husband and sons, her deep love for her family, and her industrious spirit. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a faithful member of Chesapeake Pentecostal Church since 1979. Prior to that, she attended Christ Temple Church starting in 1970, where she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Spirit. Her walk with God was central to who she was, guiding her steps through all of life’s blessings and challenges.
Marion was a woman of drive and determination. She and her husband were active participants in the Huntington business community, founding and operating a regional floral wholesale distributorship, Floral Creations in 1975, a local retail shop, Flowerland in 1983, and Flowers Wholesale in 1997. After retiring, she remained active working in the Gift Shop at Cabell Huntington Hospital where she made many special friendships. She took immense pride in her work, understanding that effort and perseverance were key to providing an example for her children and grandchildren.
To those who knew her best, Marion was a person of deep feeling. She was a loving mother who poured her heart into her family. She expressed her love with intention and purpose, and her sense of humor was always present, bringing light and warmth to those around her. She had a tender heart and held a deep love for all animals.
Marion leaves behind a legacy of faith and long-lasting love. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Gerald “Jerry” Burge; her two sons, Edward “Ed” Burge and his wife Bernadette, and Tony Burge and his wife Cindy; her sister Earlene (Koehler) McGuire; her beloved nieces Barbara Burge, Marion Marlene Webb, and Gerri Teresa McGuire-France; and her lifelong friend, Liz Blake.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Aaron and Danielle (Burge) Gustin, Christopher and Micah Burge, Tony Burge Jr, Nicholas and Anna Burge, Jesse and Savannah (Burge) Porter, and Dillen and Kathryn (Burge) Lute; as well as many beloved great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH, with Pastor Daniel Sewell officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at schneiderhallfuneralhome.com.
