Marion Sufong Jackson's Obituary
Marion Sufong Jackson, known by many, family and close friend as Sonia, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2019. She was born on May 22, 1945 in Huntington, WV to the late parents of Albert N. Tisder Sr. and Rushia Pearl James Scott Barnes. She was a graduate of Douglass High School. It was after high school that she met and married the love of her life the late Sylvester Jackson. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage until his passing. Marion retired from Huntington State Hospital after 35 years of service. After retirement she remained active on the board. She also volunteer at Ebenezer Outreach with the Save the Sister Program as well as serving on the board. Rather it was sports, school, church or hospital visits Sonia remained faithful and dedicated to her family. Sonia was a faithful member of St. Peter Claver Church for over 50 years. She worked diligently in the Food ministry. She was preceded in death not only by her husband and parents, but also her grandmother who she took care of from a child to her passing Janie Barnes; her sibling Leroy Barnes, Belita Tisder Gordon, Thomas Tisder, Elenor Tisder Mock, and Richard King; nephew Jarvis Tisder; and a very special cousin Barbara Singleton Howard. Sonia leaves to cherish her memory, sons Dwaine M. Barnes, Anthony (Kim) Barnes, Kenneth Maurice Ziegler, all of Huntington WV. ; grandsons Zackary and Cameron Barnes, Kenny and Kameron Ziegler all of Huntington, WV.; granddaughter Anastasia and Kendra Ziegler of Huntington, Elizabeth Brungart of Orlando Florida; a great-granddaughter; sister Joann Haley Huntington, WV; a brother Albert N. Tisder Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; nieces Stephanie, Almeda Tisder Cleveland Ohio, LaQuitta Scurry (Joseph Jr.) Huntington, WV Tashema Singleton, Huntington, WV. ; nephews Kelvin and Eric Tisder, Cleveland, Ohio, Specialist Lafonso Barnes (India), South Point, Ohio; Jerry and Jason Singleton, Huntington, WV.; great nephew Elijah Barnes South Point, Ohio; special cousins Donnie, Gail and Wendle Singleton, Patricia, April, Mark, Mike and George Ziegler, Stephon, Kathy and Eddie Ziegler; and Jerry Howard and a host of other cousins; family and friends that loved her. Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at St. Peter Claver Church 825 15th Street Huntington, WV. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
