Mary Alice Nichols' Obituary
Mary Alice Nichols, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Burleson,
Texas surrounded by family. As a young mother, Mary Alice held different jobs for a short period of time before transitioning to full-time homemaker, wife, and mother, roles she fulfilled with strength
selflessness, and a resilient faith in God which she shared by quiet example. She lived out her
faith in later years as an exceptional caregiver to her daughter, mother, husband, and sisters,
serving them through their final moments with compassion, wisdom, and love. Determined,
curious, and fiercely independent, Mary Alice was a remarkable role model of a graceful and
well-lived life for her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Whether spending time with her family in long conversations over dinner or traveling
somewhere new, she deeply enjoyed simple pleasures and exciting adventures. She was a
genuine student of life, always open-minded and willing to learn new things about faith,
nature, politics, music, and technology, all of which she pursued with wit and unique insight.
Her quick humor and gentle, loving presence will be missed deeply and beyond what her
family could ever express in words. She has been an extraordinary mother and best friend.
Mary Alice is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Nichols; daughter Deirdra (Dee)
Nichols; son-in-law David Mays; father William Blake; Mother Lenora Blake; sisters Irma Lee
Blake, and Margaret Ramey.
