Mary R. Smith 1945 - 2017
Mary M. Runyon Smith, 71, of Lavalette, WV passed away Friday April 21, 2017 at home. She was born September 22, 1945 in Pike County, KY to the late Elva and Christina Runyon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands William A. Runyon and Bernard Ed Smith; a son Elva Runyon; and siblings William "Wilkie" May and Joyce R. Mitchell. She is survived by her children John "Kenny" (Stacie) Runyon of Salemburg, NC, Albert (Kimberly) Runyon of Huntington, WV, and Norma "Chrissy" (Dennis) Pilkington of Pikeville, NC; grandchildren Joshua and Sherea Runyon, Lee Ann Hernandez, Kyle and Noah Pilkington, Philip, Cody, and April Hill; ten great grandchildren; siblings Betty Blair (KY), Jean Arko (AZ), Lana (Harold) Hundley (WV), Martha Runyon (WV), Sue Stone (WV), Elva Ray Runyon (WV), Sam Runyon (NC), and Karen Hopkins (NC); two humble and caring daughters-in-law Glenna Norris and Carolyn Napier; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She always said she was most proud of her children and grandchildren and her greatest achievement was her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marys Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio.
