Maxine 'Der' Day's Obituary
Maxine "Der" Day, 95, of Proctorville, Ohio entered into her Heavenly home on Monday, October 29, 2018. She was born December 22, 1922 in Lawrence County, Ohio daughter of the late Jasper and Anna Brown Dennison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elgia "Jim" Day; five siblings Ethel Burcham, Helen Taylor, Irene Dennison, Bernice Whitrock and Jasper Dennison, Jr. She is survived by one son Larry (Melanie) Day; one daughter Joyce (Frank) Harmon all of Proctorville, Ohio; three granddaughters Pam (Tim) Shafer of Proctorville, Ohio, Tracy (Jeff) Price of Taylorsville, NC and Melanie Ann (Chris) Alley of Blacklick, Ohio; three great grandchildren Brandon (Adi) Shafer of Culloden, WV, Hayden Alley and Bella Alley of Blacklick, Ohio; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Day of Chesapeake, Ohio and Bernice Farahay of Melbourne, FL; two cats Minx and Hamlet; four special friends Jeannie Shafer, Missy Marple, Rita Hope and Heather Raynor; one special niece Treva Hamlin; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Maxine was known by many as Der. She loved life to the fullest and was always making people smile. She was a member of Defender Methodist Church but in her later years attended Greasy Ridge Church of Christ. She worked at the Dress Factory for several years. The family wishes to thank Dr. Janet Wallace and Hospice of Huntington for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 by Minister Barry Kelley at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
