Michael Travis Knapp's Obituary
Michael Travis Knapp, 54, of Chesapeake, OH, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He courageously fought his battle of pancreatic cancer with great dignity. He was born on December 15, 1970, in Ashland, KY. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Knapp. He is survived by his loving mother Judy (Wyant) Knapp; sister Tessa Knapp; daughter Madison Knapp (Austin); son Brody Knapp; and loving partner Meghan Spensky. He was given a very special gift, born on his first day of chemo, his grandson Tatum Michael Smoot. He has many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him very much. Travis graduated from Chesapeake High School where he loved playing on the basketball team. He also attended Marshall University. He was employed by the Veterans Benefits Administration Reginal Office as a veteran’s service representative. Travis received wonderful care at The James Cancer Center in Columbus, OH, with special accolades to his oncologist, Dr. Rahman. The family also acknowledges the oncology staff at St. Mary’s for their merciful care in his final days. A private family celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH. A graveside service will be at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Tim Yates officiating.
