Michael Ray WIlliams' Obituary
MICHAEL RAY WILLIAMS, 72, of South Point, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the VA hospital, on October 10, 2021, that morning at 5:25 AM. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband who tried to take care of his wife even though he was sick. He served in the US NAVY during the Vietnam war era and was a lifetime member of the VFW, post-1064, who took pride in letting people know he's a veteran. He worked at the VA hospital in the canteen as a food service worker for 18 years. Michael also enjoyed making people laugh and were a man to stir up controversy at the VA Hospital. On June 15, 1993, Michael made the frontpage news of The Herald-Dispatch for being arrested at the VA Hospital over two parking tickets. The controversial story of parking tickets would also have Dave Peyton writing a news article in The Herald-Dispatch, joking with his readers with the imagination of a meter maid taking a person to jail. The news of being arrested for parking tickets would be mentioned as a short joke liner on the Johnny Carson Late night show. During Michael's last days at the VA hospital, he was saved and baptized on his deathbed by his Pastor, Robert Young, who is one of his neighbors on Sandusky Hollow Road who walked up the hollow road to greet him and all the neighbors. Michael loved his family and always enjoyed talking to people, making them laugh. He was the kind of guy that was a fighter and never gave up on doing things in life, no matter how difficult the challenge may be to the very end of his life. Even at his death bed, Michael won in victory through Jesus Christ. Michael was born January 3, 1949, in Baileyville, West Virginia, the son of Dock and Nelva Virginia Collins Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Mika Yvonne Doss and his brother Howard Williams. Survivors include his sister Stollie Williams, wife Barbara Williams of South Point, Ohio, sons Aaron (Tiffany) Williams of Ironton, Ohio, and Matthew (Tabatha) Williams of Wheelersburg, Ohio; his grandchildren are Kyla Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Evan Williams, Julianna Williams, Cheyenne Jenkins, Randall Blake, Zachary Blake, and his great-grandchildren Leah, Hunter, and baby Gabriel who is soon to be born. Celebration of life service will be held on October 18, 2021, 6:00 PM at Living Waters Revival Center 831 Virginia Ave Huntington, WV 25704. To Hall Funeral of Proctorville, Ohio, and all the VA Hospital workers that took care of Michael Williams, we thank you all for your service and for helping all the other veterans as well.
