Mildred Jean Heffner's Obituary
Mildred “Mickey” Heffner, 91, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went to her heavenly home with her family by her side on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Mickey was born on March 3, 1935, to the late Hobart Jones and Edith Murdock Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard “Red” Heffner; her daughter, Kathy Brandenburg; and her sisters, Josephine “Jo” Cregut and Mary “Sis” Dunford.
Mickey was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She was a faithful member of Norway Avenue Church of Christ, where she worshiped and served for many years. Her generous spirit led her to volunteer with the Red Cross, Huntington City Mission, Ronald McDonald House, and the Norway Avenue Church of Christ Food Pantry. She found great joy in helping others and sharing God’s love through acts of service. Mickey’s home was always filled with warmth and love. She was known for her homemade cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberlin Houston of Kenova, West Virginia, Rhonda Thomas of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Tina (David) Jordan of Chesapeake, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jeremy Brandenburg, Shannon Brandenburg, Nicholas Houston, Jared Thomas, Courtney (Tony) McLendon, Brittany (Ben) Watson, Carrie Kimball, and Bethany (Nick) Whitley; and her 16 beloved great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Mickey will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep love for her family. Her legacy of compassion, hospitality, service, and devotion to God will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, June 22, 2026 at The Norway Avenue Church of Christ, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Norway Avenue Church of Christ Food Pantry, 1400 Norway Avenue, Huntington, WV 25705 or the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709.
