Nellie Jane (Hager) Staerker, 76, of Proctorville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2026.
Born on March 6, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, Nellie was the beloved daughter of Gladys Davis Hager and Arlond Hager. She lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and love, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nellie was a devoted wife to her husband, Klaus Otto Staerker, and a loving mother to her only daughter, Angela Galella. She was a proud and devoted nana to Stephanie Galella and Sophia Galella, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
She is also survived by her siblings, Peggy Ann Hager McQuaid, David Hager, and Rocky Hager. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marlynn Hager Wood.
A woman of deep and unwavering Christian faith, Nellie lived her beliefs through acts of compassion and generosity. She had a heart for children and delighted in giving toys and candy to brighten their day. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she was always willing to help others with a warm smile and a caring heart.
Nellie found joy in collecting teddy bears, spending cherished time with family and friends, and filling every gathering with laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making others smile.
Above all, Nellie will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering faith, her generosity, and the happiness she brought to so many. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is at peace in the loving presence of her Lord and Savior.
