Nola Adkins' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nola Adkins, who departed this life on June 19, 2026, at the age of 97. Nola passed away peacefully at her home. She was born on January 17, 1929, in the rolling hills of Wayne County, West Virginia, Nola was a beacon of kindness and warmth throughout her long and fulfilling life. Born to Robert and Myrtle Dyer, Nola was the beloved sister of Elmer Dyer, and the late Kenneth and Emmette Dyer. She married Jennings Adkins on June 24, 1950. During their more than 60 years of marriage, they forged a beautiful life, raising two cherished children, Danny Adkins (Jerri) and Denise Adkins. Nola's professional journey was marked by her role as the shipping manager at Huntington Industries, a clothing company located in Huntington, West Virginia. Her exceptional facility with numbers and remarkable organizational skills made her a standout in her field. Beyond her professional life, her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a willing and enthusiastic supporter of local PTA and youth sports leagues, always eager to lend a helping hand and a kind word. Nola found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, reveling in the beauty of nature, and a talented cook, known for her delicious meals and lovingly canned goods. Her skills with a needle and thread were exceptional, and her quilts and sewn creations were treasured by all who received them. In her leisure time, she enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling and the challenge of golf, hobbies she pursued with zeal and enthusiasm. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Nola was the proud grandmother of Christopher Adkins (Danielle) and Jamie Adkins, and the doting great-grandmother to Oakley and Jeremy Adkins. Her love and affection extended to her numerous nephews and nieces, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Nola's gentle spirit, constant smile, and unwavering kindness made her a cherished friend to all. Her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Nola requested that there be no formal funeral ceremony. A visitation will be held on June 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Nola are invited to join us in honoring and remembering the remarkable woman she was. Nola Adkins lived a life rich in love and purpose.
