Norma Cummings Denning was a charter member of the Third Floor Outing Club and our friend for more than fifty years. We lived near each other at West Virginia Wesleyan College. After our 1973 graduation our friendship continued, as we shared our experiences in our careers and parenthood. We formed our Third Floor Outing Club while we were students at Wesleyan, with our first outing to Seneca Rocks shortly before graduation. Norma joined us on more adventures at Helvetia, Capon Bridge and Oglebay Park, West Virginia; Holden Beach, North Carolina; and back on campus in Buckhannon. Norma always had a needlework project in the works often for the benefit of her beloved Mission in Nicaragua. She also always had the right supplies and suggestions and snacks to make all of our efforts just a little bit better.
Our group was better and richer because Norma was a part of it. We will miss our good friend most dearly.

Sending sympathy and comfort to all Denning and Cummings families. I am sorry that I cannot attend Norma's service but want you to know that you are in my thoughts.

To Norma's family and friends: My sincere condolences at the loss of Norma. I met Norma in about 1969 at West Virginia Wesleyan College and our friendship continued past our 50th reunion in 2023. We were both part of a group of friends that got together at least once a year and kept in touch daily (many times several times a day). I was in her wedding and made dresses for her two sisters, myself and the two flower girls. That was a fun project for me.
She was such a caring person. She made a prayer shawl for me when I was going through a difficult time. I have so many great memories and will always cherish her friendship. I'm glad that she is at peace. Here's to you Norma, until we meet again...

Norma was a woman of vision and the skills and dedication to see her visions come to life. I learned so much from her while working her Marketplace Bible Schools. She loved her Lord and her family fiercely. Whenever I am asked what woman I should use as a role model, Norma tops my list. I am so honored to have known her. Patrice Daniel

Talley, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that your Aunt Norma was very special to you. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing she's at peace and holding on tight to the memories. Sending my love to you and your family. ❤️ 🙏 ❤️

I remember Norma from long ago when my grandmother Lorene Naomi Aills would talk about Norma and her brothers and sisters and my Nana taking care of them for their parents Dr and Mrs Cummings.
That entire family was and is amazing. Heaven gained an amazing 🤩 person and we will remember her blessings in our lives.
My parents Lovell and Barbara Aills are praying for each and everyone of you.
May her memory be a blessing

Dear Norma, you were the calm in any storm, the listener who brought heart's ease, and the giver of wisdom when requested. During the USTA league matches, your leadership on the tennis court and off was appreciated more than you know.
I don't think I have the words that can adequately express what your friendship has meant to me. The long walks and talks, with some jogging thrown in, in Ritter Park as our marriages dissolved were balm to my soul.
Memories of visiting and talking, as if years hadn't passed between each visit, were treasured before, but now are more dear.
Norma, I'm glad you're in a place without pain and suffering, but you leave behind friends and family who will miss you and those all encompassing hugs, very much.
Fair winds and following seas, my friend. Until we meet again . . .

So sorry

Sam and family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Norma. She was a great lady. She always welcomed us in her home and was a great supporter of all things Huntington! I will be praying for you all.
Love,
Anna (Lafferre) Kraft
