Ora Lee McCoy's Obituary
ORA LEE THOMPSON MCCOY, 80, of Chesapeake, OH, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in Heartland of Riverview. Funeral service will be 2 PM Friday, August 14, 2015, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Bro. Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery, Kitts Hill, OH. Ora Lee was born January 12, 1935, in Harts, WV, a daughter of the late Charlie and Alafair Adkins Thompson. She was a graduate of Guyan Valley High School and a former Elementary School Spelling Bee Champion. Ora Lee displayed integrity and compassion playing the role of mother to her children's best friends while opening her home to them and cooking great meals. She was also a longtime member of Big Branch United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Julian M. "Doodle" McCoy; one granddaughter, Brianna McCoy; two sisters, Bessie Moore and Elsie Thompson; and one brother, Clyde Thompson. Ora Lee is survived by her daughter, Bettina (Rodger W.) McCoy; her sons, Jeff (Linda) McCoy and Tony (Kim) McCoy; her grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison, T.J., and Sidney McCoy, and Sheridan Waller; one great grandson, Skyler Waller; her niece, Sharon (Stephen) Stark; her nephew, Danny (Desiree) Moore; a host of extended family and friends; and her special friends from K-Mart. Visitation will be 11 AM to 2 PM Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. Pallbearers will be Tony and T.J. McCoy, James Layne, Johnray Vance, Rodger Waller, and Sheridan Waller. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland of Riverview and their staff for making Ora Lee feel at home and for their special care.
