Paul Edmond Cowsar, 57, of Proctorville, OH, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at home. He was born on October 30, 1968, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Donald and Carol (Cermak) Cowsar. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, C Read Obituary
Paul has been pivotal in the success of our employee wellness events the past two years. He brought incredible energy, passion and knowledge to his team, and he made sure each and every one of his patients was safe and cared for. His sense of humor was infectious, and his kindness widespread. In times of uncertainty, we knew we were in good hands as long as Paul was present. Thank you Paul, for your dedication and compassion. We will miss you so very much.
Paul was an absolutely outstanding clinician, colleague and friend. His clinician judgement and management of patients was matched only by his exceptional bedside manner. He was a well-respected clinician and provided outstanding care for the patients and community of Galax, Virginia. Paul always made time for any emergency staffing support he could provide and if there was any way that Paul could help us, he would. We are proud to call him our colleague and friend, and thankful for the years he dedicated serving the patients of Galax. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers to you, Deitra and family.

I always liked Paul from the beginning that I met him through work. You could tell that he had a kind heart and he was a very special guy. I was so happy when he and Dedra got together. I am so sorry to hear this and he is going to be missed.

My first memory of Paul was that he always greated me with a smile every morning when I worked my first job out of grad school. He was always such a kind and caring presence that was always in my corner no matter what. One of the funniest memories was when I first started I'd never had expresso and didn't really know how it worked and he saw me getting a whole cup of coffees worth of espresso and his only response was "well its definitely a Monday" then goes back into his office. He always knew how to make people laugh and was the best sport on April fools day. Paul will be greatly missed not only as a great person but a kind and caring friend.
