Paul Edwin Salyer's Obituary
PAUL EDWIN SALYER, 93, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Jo-Lin Health Center. Mr. Salyer was born July 19, 1923, in Ashland, Kentucky, son of the late Claude and Clyda Smith Salyer. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was honored to have served as Honorary Grand Marshal of the 2016 Ironton Memorial Day Parade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rowland Salyer; a brother, Claude "Buddy" Salyer; and a son, Paul Randall Salyer. He is survived by his sister, Edna "Babe" Chatfield, and two sons, Kevin (Sherri) Salyer of Proctorville, Ohio, and Gary (Carla) Salyer of Coal Grove, Ohio, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Paul chose to donate his body to the Marshall University School of Medicine. Donations may be made to the Paul Salyer Memorial at Huntington Habitat for Humanity, 240 3rd Ave., Huntington, WV 25726. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Rome Cemetery Mausoleum, Proctorville, Ohio. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio, is assisting the family.
