Peggy Jarrell Houston's Obituary
Peggy Lou Houston, 90, of Chesapeake, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, NC. She was born February 23, 1934 in Majestic, KY to the late Virgil and Ida Stallings Jarrell. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of many years, George "Ducky" Houston; a brother, David McCalmont and sister, Jean Ellis.
Peggy recently celebrated her 90th birthday in North Carolina with her son, Bill. Even those at the restaurant showered her with birthday wishes! She was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and devout Christian who served as pianist and treasurer at the Chesapeake Nazarene Church for many years. Only in eternity will we know the impact and difference her life made on others. Peggy was a brilliant lady who loved to learn and her determination paid off. She worked tirelessly to acquire accounting, computer, piano and artistic skills, among countless other skills, while still making the family she loved a priority. As Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Chesapeake for over twenty years, Peggy obtained the Ohio State Code of Law and memorized the codes to assist both herself and others. She was valued and respected by all who knew her. Flags will be flown at half-mast in her honor.
Peggy wholeheartedly loved her God, family and friends. Survivors include her beloved children, Bill Houston of Elm City, NC and Dr. Pamela Jones of Circleville, OH; a very special grandson, Tyler Houston of Elm City and the entire Chesapeake community. "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30
