Phyllis Kay Hawthorne's Obituary
Phyllis Kay Hawthorne, 84, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Sunday December 3, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born June 1, 1939 in Huntington, WV to the late Slonie and Mary Geneva Rucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hawthorne; and aunts Carolyn "Duney" Moore and Erma Lee Riley. She worked in the Chesapeake School System for over 30 years. Kay is survived by four children Jeff (Faith) Hawthorne, Dalvin (Wendi) Hawthorne, Brett (Brenda) Hawthorne, and Kevin (Kristi) Hawthorne; four grandchildren Kortney (Josh) Walters, Stephen Hawthorne, Lindsey (Austin) Baldwin, and Grant Hawthorne; three great grandchildren Eli Hawthorne, and Khloe and Korbin Walters; one brother Tim Rucker; special cousin Judy Noland; and special friends Marlene Pannell and Kay Wright. A celebration of life will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday December 6, 2023 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. The family will receive family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
