Yolanda Smith
In the mid-sixties, Reverend Smith worked with Community Action. They headquartered in the old Rexall building on the SE corner of 8th Ave and 16th Street. My mother worked there, helping plan what they called “tot lots”, small public playgrounds to serve area residents. She was very fond of him. (Red Holman was also instrumental.) It was during the civil rights era and it was encouraging to see progress for the neighborhood. Who remembers the fish place the church ran? Outstanding! Thank you, Reverend Smith for your devotion to good. ❤️
