Richard Allen Akers Jr. 61, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born on October 19, 1963, in Huntington, WV, to the late Richard and Wilma Miller Akers Sr. He was also preceded in death by stepdaughter Misty Tomblin and mother-in-law Ramona Tomblin. He was an Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Akers; four daughters Heather, Meagan, Amy, and Carrie; two sons Brandon and Brian; twenty-two grandchildren including Lexi and Peyton; four great grandchildren; sister Teresa Romans; brother James Akers; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Jim, AKA Rev. Jim. Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Cedar Street Baptist Church in Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Brian Root officiating.
