Robert Preston Bias' Obituary
Robert Preston "Bob/Bobby" Bias, 75, of Crown City, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 4, 2023.
Robert was born on April 26, 1948, to Wetzel and Angelina (neé Olmeda) Bias in Huntington, West Virginia. After Robert graduated from Fairland High School in 1966, where he led a prestigious athletic career, he went on to study for two years at Marshall University (then Marshall College) before joining the United States Navy.
After his military service concluded, Robert experienced a miraculous conversion and became a devout Christian, eventually leading him to enroll in Tri-State Bible College. He spent the next several decades serving various local churches in a number of pastoral roles. At the time of his death, he had been lovingly serving his church family as associate pastor of Faith Baptist Chapel of Chesapeake, Ohio, for over twelve years.
Robert retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital in 2010 after more than twenty years of service. The majority of his working years were spent managing environmental services at Cabell, where he was known and loved by many.
While he worked hard in every area of his life, Robert's great joys were his family and his faith. A dedicated father and grandfather, Robert framed his life around loving, leading, and providing for his family. His favorite pastimes included family bonfires and late-night movies with his children and grandchildren. Robert's church also played a central role in his life; no one was more excited to worship the Lord on Sunday morning or more eager to be with Jesus in glory one day. A gifted singer, he regularly led others in worship with contagious joy. In 2022, Robert self-published his memoir, Preston, in which he chronicled his youthful misadventures of both family and faith.
Robert was preceded in death by parents Wetzel and Angelina Bias; brother, Wetzel Bias, Jr.; nephew, Paul Gregory Bias; and son, Jordan Seth Bias.
He is survived by daughters Gretchen Bias, Rebecca Kilgore, and Erika (Bryan) Arivett; grandchildren Jordan Bias, Emma Kilgore, and River Kate Arivett; sister-in-law Donna Bias; and nieces Lisa (Denzil) Cyfers, Krista (Tate) Tooley, and Stephanie (Mark) Foster.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at Hall Funeral Home & Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Miller (Ohio) Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faith Baptist Chapel in Chesapeake, Ohio-a congregation Robert loved, and who dearly loved him.
