Robert "Bob" Layton Gibson's Obituary
Robert Layton "Bob" Gibson, 80, of Chesapeake, OH, passed into Heaven on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at River's Bend Health Care Center of South Point, OH. He was born January 19, 1938 in Charleston, WV, son of the late Willard E. Gibson and Virginia D. Collins. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Judith B. Gibson, and his brother, Gary Gibson. Bob is survived by his daughter, Sheila (Ron) Pemberton of Chesapeake, OH, and grandson, Ryan (Alyssa) Jeffers of Yantai, China. He adored Ryan and spent many treasured moments with him throughout his life. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, Lydia and Abel Jeffers; one brother, Michael (Gloria) Gibson; two sisters, Patty (Paul) Spears, and Lois (Donald) Slater; sister-in-law, JoAnna Reed, and brother-in-law, Robert Carl Kitts. Bob served in the Navy aboard the USS Meredith. He worked as an appliance salesman for 32 years at Sears. He was a member of Community Chapel in Proctorville where he served the Lord and loved people for many years. His generosity to people was overwhelming and will be remembered by many. Special memories that Ryan has of his Paw Paw include being taught how to ride the tractor and mow the yard, receiving a jar of coins just to help out, and loving to see Paw Paw watch old Westerns on tv. The family would like to thank the staff of River's Bend for their care, compassion, and professionalism. There will be no services or visitation.
