Robert Lee Miller's Obituary
Robert Lee Miller, 86, of Chesapeake, OH, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born February 23, 1937 in Huntington, WV to the late Robert Henry and Evelyn Nesbitt (Graley) Miller. Bob was a devout Christian and a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Proctorville. He served his country in the US Army Reserves and later became very active in the church. He became a Christian at a young age and has never stopped telling others about Jesus. He was involved in Child Evangelism, Visitations, Vacation Bible School, Church Camps, Children's Church, and taught Sunday School. Bob and Connie did vacation bible school together for about a decade, and they became known as "Uncle Bob and Aunt Connie." He loved the children and had passion to teach them about Jesus. At children's church his lessons would always end with a cliff hanger to motivate the kids to return to church the next week to hear the ending. He was a genuine soul winner and was never hesitant to share the gospel. He spent many years helping people in their faith walk. Not only did he lead numerous lost souls to Christ, but he also helped them nurture that relationship using his knowledge of the Bible. The souls that he won for Jesus over the years is a huge part of his legacy. Bob went by many names: Papaw, Uncle Bob, Daddy, Sugarbooger, he always liked to say, "Obey God and leave all the consequences to him." He loved spending time with family which included his favorite yearly trip to Tennessee where the entire family travelled down together and spent the week. He looked forward to the numerous family gatherings each year. His faith and compassion moved him to witness to non-believers. Even at the end, he was witnessing to the paramedic on the ambulance ride to the hospital. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie Miller; three sons, Robert Joseph Miller (Annette), Daniel Miller (Lynn), Matt Miller (Judy); twin daughters, Monica Napier (Tony) and Mindy Combs (Patrick); seven grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Robbie, Michael, Sophia, Brice and Olivia; five great grandchildren and many others that called him Paw Paw. There will be a funeral service held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, OH. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. Visitation will be from 10-11 am. Condolences may be expressed at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
