Ruth Katherine Black Hensley's Obituary
Ruth Katherine Black Hensley, of Chesapeake, OH, peacefully entered her heavenly home on June 28, 2026. Having just celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love. She was born on April 2, 1926, to James and Myrtle Elliott Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Juanita Mae (Charles) Gifford, Violet Fern (Phil) Hager, Velmar Leo, Winifred Richard, Jackie Nelson O’Dell, Rose Carole (Jack) Sanders, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her son, Michael Keith of Sarasota, FL; her daughter, Patricia Jo (Don) Barber Dillon Peare; grandchildren, Crystal “Kristy” Renee (Jon) Wheeler of Huntington, WV, Stephanie (Dane) Martinez, and Garrett Michael Hensley of Sarasota, FL; great-grandchildren, Justin Eric (Kristin) Batten, Caitlin Renee (Bryan) Day, Jordan Christopher Wheeler of Huntington, and Eva, Alyssa, and Iyla of Sarasota, FL; great-great-grandchildren, Greyson Lucas Batten and Avionna Juniper Day of Huntington, WV. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones. Ruth’s family was the center of her life, spanning five generations. A woman of deep faith and determination, she retired from Perry Norvell Shoe Factory, starting to work there at age 17 and working for 39 years. She later cleaned homes. Her strength, kindness, and work ethic touched all who knew her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Arbors of Gallipolis for their compassionate care. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones, has a healed body, and is at peace in the presence of her Savior. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, OH, at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at 11:00 A.M.
