Sorry to hear about steve.have know Steve and his family for long time.Steve was good friend

My absolute funniest and fondest memory of Steve happened in the late 70's. Pat Stoddard, Steve and myself were cruising around in Pats van down in South Point. We were drinking beer and imbibing in some other things. It was late at night and we were passing a junkyard on old Route 52 in Sheridan. Pat saw a car he was interested in. We stopped to look. Pat and I got out but Steve stayed in the van. While checking out the wrecked car, a police officer stopped to see what were up to. Pat and I were talking to him, trying to convince him that we had no bad intentions. WELL..... Steve was listening from inside the van and I guess the cops attitude became too much for him. All at once the van started rocking pretty violently and the side doors flew open. Hamlin rolled out and looked at the Officer....Out of nowhere, Steve looked the cop straight in the eye and said..."$u?? @oc? man". I was stunned, as was Pat. The officer was noticeably shaken and started making excuses that he needed to leave. STDVE REPEATED HIMSELF....that was all he said through this whole interaction. The cops attitude became better and hurriedly got to his car and quickly left!
This may seen inappropriate to talk about in this situation...and it maybe could be? But, anyone that knew Steve, cannot only picture this but had to laugh somewhere down deep inside! IT WAS CLASSIC HAMLIN!
Godspeed Steve!

Steve always had a smile and a hand wait for me even when he was back in high school. I knew his father and he's uncles real well and I guess he respected that in me because I respected them so much God bless family and I'll never forget that smile God bless you all

What a life Steve lived! He was so loved by his family & friends!! I will always remember these 3 phrases from him:
1) Think about it
2) Come on man
3) Relax... calm down
See you soon my friend

The Fairland Class of 79 sends our sincere sympathy to Steve's family. We have many great memories of Steve. Gone too soon. We love you, Steve 💚

STEVE WAS A SWEET PERSON. ALWAY HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE. STEVE WAS A GREAT BALL PLAYER FOR THE FAIRLAND DRAGONS. HE WILL BE MISSED.. GO REST HIGH STEVE.
