Sudie Janeive Thornton's Obituary
Sudie Janeive Thornton, 81, of Proctorville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 2, 2024 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born March 12, 1943 in South Charleston, WV daughter of the late Paul George and Denise Browning Michaux. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Louise Oldham in 1967; paternal grandparents Edgar Octavious Michaux and Sudie Sophronie Shae Michaux; and maternal grandparents Cecil Young Browning, Sr. and Geneive Mounts Browning. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Grayson Thornton; one son Michael Todd Oldham (Monica Seplochia Oldham); grandchildren Michael Andrew Oldham and Muriel Anatasia Kiersten Oldham; stepchildren Anne Thornton (Ron) Hamlin and their children Beth (Children: Devin and Levi) and Ron and wife Amanda (Children: Blake and Emily), Chuck Andrea Hosey) Thornton (son Christopher), an Jim (Sue Allison) Thornton (Son: Sam); brothers Ronald (Kay Rue) Michaux and their children Craig (Madison, Maverick, and Cody) and Kevin (Madeline, Dalton, and Mason), and Paul George (Brenda Sue) Michaux, Jr. and their children Lisa Dawn (Morgan) and Jeffrey (Jeff). She was a retired ordained Deacon and had served as an Associate Pastor for Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church Huntington, WV. She had served as an Associate Pastor at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Hurricane, WV, Pastor of Hamlin Central United Methodist Church Hamlin, WV, Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church, Huntington, WV, Minister of Visitation at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, and Pastor at Waterloo United Methodist Church, Waterloo, Ohio. She started Single Point Ministries in Huntington, WV and New Attitudes in Waterloo, Ohio. She attended High Point College, High Point, N.C., West Virginia College, Marshall University, and Duke-Ministerial Course of Studies. She loved her horses, dogs, and cats, writing, and reading. A celebration of life will be held 12 p.m. Saturday October 12, 2024 at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday October 12, 2024 at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
