Susan Carol Clark Smith Tweel 1958 - 2016
Susan Carol Clark Smith Tweel, “Suzy”, age 58 of Rome Twp Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday Oct 7, 2016. She was born on July 7, 1958 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Janice Peterson of South Dakota and the late William E Clark. On Nov 5, 1982 she married the late Gregory Lee Smith and they had one daughter Kristy Lee Smith. She began teaching at Chesapeake School District in August 1986. On Dec 22, 1990 she married George Matthew “Matt” Tweel and they had one son James Clark “Jace” Tweel. As a dedicated educator she loved all of her kids and treated each child as her own. “I have never worked a day in my life.” Suzy inspired everyone she came in contact with, her personality was infectious. She gave beyond measure without recognition. Giving gave her such joy. Suzy was such a genuine lady with a strong will, full of life,that believed in paying it forward, and her faith in God was a testimony for every person. Suzy had many dear friends and cherished each relationship especially her special sisterhood between Stephanie and Alisa. Her love of South Dakota and Pickerel Lake always took her home each summer. She spent those times on the lake with her besties Nancy, Amy and many other family members and friends.
She is survived by her husband Matt Tweel, daughter Kristy (Chris) Olsen of Lenexa KS, son Jace Tweel of Rome Township, and step son Britton Tweel of Sarasota FL; three grandchildren Elizabeth Capri, Heidi Lee, and Jude Marshall Olsen; father in law Marshall Lee (Susan) Smith, one sister and two brothers, Cathy (Bill) Britton, Brad (Lori) Clark, Tom (Corina) Clark; one brother in law Ron (Teresa) Tweel, and two sisters in law Dee (Tim) Rucker and Sue Casto. Suzy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
She was received by her Savior and greeted in heaven by her husband Gregory Lee Smith, father William E Clark, father in law Roger George Tweel, mothers in law Teresa Merrideth Tweel, and Mary Lou Smith. Her family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to; Cabell Huntington Hospital Oncology Nurses, Brett Denton (Bellefonte Home Health), Dr Barlett, Dr Lebowicz, Kim Jeffreys and Molly Sarver at Edwards Comprehensive Medical Center, Jessica Purdue and Jessica Morris. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to Hospice House of Huntington or Chesapeake Middle School food pantry. Memorial Service will be held at Chesapeake High School gymnasium Sunday Oct 9th at 7 pm. with Pastor Jeff Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the gymnasium. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday October 20,2016 at the First Methodist Church in Aberdeen, SD. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
